24: Blather, Rinse, Repeat
OK, so 24 repeats itself. That's what it does; that's what it's for. It's probably silly to even point it out. And I tend to agree with Tim Goodman that 24 is so ludicrous, it defies analysis.
But it doesn't defy a quick-and-dirty list, so here's a taxonomy of elements from last night's episode lifted from earlier 24 seasons:
* Jack breaks international law by busting into a foreign consulate (noted by Chaddogg in this morning's Heroes thread)
* Facing a subject who's holding out information, Jack goes for the fingers
* Attempted presidential assassination
* Evil Vice President / Cabinet members / White House staff
* Attempt to use terror attack to start a war in the Middle East
There's more low-hanging fruit out there, so feel free to add your own.

A couple more:
1. Bill Buchanan stating that Jack was acting without authorization, but offering the tacit argument that Jack's actions "offer the best/only chance we have to stop the threat."
2. Chloe willingly doing Jack's bidding, despite the fact he's breaking the law.
3. Jack surviving an explosion.
4. Someone who's left the action being pressed back into/volunteering for service (Karen Hayes).
5. The American public having news of danger to the president/a coup hidden from them for a period of time

I can't understand why they keep repeating the same theme every year. It’s getting to a point that the show is so predictable. Know Jack's brother and father is behind season five. Go figure. I think it would have been cool to do a season on what took place between Jack and Victor Drazen which lead up to the first Season (Day 1). What would have been even better was to do season six with Jack escaping from a Chinese prison in 24 hours. Finally, why does everything happen in Los Angeles?

Why does everything happen in LA. Hey us rednecks in Oklahoma know the answer to that. LA and New York are the twin centers of the universe in the TV world.
