Lostwatch Pt. 2: That Darned Cat

A couple commenters have reminded me of something I thought of during last night's Lost but didn't get into in my Lostwatch: What was the deal with that cat? Or rather, Keith asks:

So, was the cat at the farm the same cat at the restaurant or just similar looking? My boss thinks it is the same cat. I wasn't sure.

This was a point of dissension at the Tuned In household. I said the same cat (or at least, two roles played by the same cat actor). Mrs. Tuned In says no. Watching it back on TiVo I don't see a difference, but I'm not a cat person. [Update: And these pictures clear up nothing for me.] Your thoughts? An evil cat twin, perhaps?

My theory: this will all be explained next season, in a flashback from the cat's POV.

I confess to being a cat person ans my lap cat was in my lap while watching Lost while my non-lap cat was laying on the opposite side of the room from the dog. The turtle always minds his own business in his aquarium next to the TV. Being a cat person, I still couldn't tell. Since I was watching it live, I didn't tivo it. I guess we will just have to wait until next year for the cat's flashback as James suggested.

Not the same cat, at least based on the wiki pictures. The cat in the woman's lap has a dark gray nose. The island cat has a completely white nose. Same breed, same color scheme, but different markings.

    Yep, I'm a cat person.

It's meant to look like the same cat, it's just not a cat at all. It's Smoky taking the form of a cat. I know, it sounds ridiculous but consider these facts: when Smoky stared at Eko you could see flashbacks of his life in it, proving that Smoky has the ability to look into Lostie's pasts; before Eko was about to die he was chasing after his brother, he disappeared and seconds later Smoky appeared. In fact, pretty much every person/hallucination that is featured in a flashback and then on the island is Smoky (ranging from Jack's dad, to Kate's horse and Shannon's Walt). Well, it's a hypothesis anyway.

Oh come ON! Listen to the Mrs., Amira's cat has a GRAY nose, the farm cat has a WHITE nose... cats don't wear make up. :)

Nadia is not the same cat as Mrs. Amira's.

However, Nadia will play a very important part in Sayid's life.

    Yes, I'm a cat person.
