A blog about television by TIME’s TV critic James Poniewozik.

So I Guess This Means the Whole Don Imus Thing Is Over Now

Larry Birkhead, you are the winner! Let the cable-news frenzy commence!

An apology, by the way, to longtime Tuned In readers, for our suddenly having become Swampland over the course of the last two days. I promise to return to my regular program of esoteric TV musings and extremely low traffic as soon as possible.

Thanks, James. I think we'd all prefer less on this Imus brouhaha (my two cents: he's an idiot, his words demonstrate he's one, but why should anyone care what he says - tune out or turn off and hope it makes him go away, which it should) and more on whether Veronica Mars will be saved by the CW, debates on whether Lost is again as good as its first season (it is), and discourses on the best way to schedule shows and run a network (honestly my dream job - I swear I'm better than any exec at Fox/CW/NBC/ABC/CBS right now, mainly because I love television and can tell when something is good...)

coming from other blog about this imus issue. it seems to be spinning out of control. many of the underlying issues of race in this country is being brought forth like snakes after a hard rain. i personally think that things will get worst. as far as mr. imus is concerned, he will survive. his friends are circling the wagons for him. but to dismiss this, is mostly what whites in this country, or on blogs, or whatever, are advocating. its another issue of devaluing the concerns of black people.

And here I thought it all of those posts were due to my legion of fans following me to Tuned In once I started posting here. Guess not. Carry on James.

People like Don Imus and Howard Stern are money makers for advertisers, and television/radio stations. But why do we accept their ignorant behavior and classless taste? Hip Hop music is one of the lowest forms of speech and expression of different ethinicity's and culture diversity yet we accept them calling our women hos, weave wearing bitches and the men are referred to as niggas, and m f's. So in essence what you are saying to the public, "it's ok to express yourself in music and down grade women and speak of shooting police officers just don't do it on the radio. I call that a double standard in the media. Think about it! Imus, Stern and recording artist should be fired. All for one and one for all.
