American Idol Discuss-o-Matic

My Idol review is up; you know what you must do.

My predix for the bottom three: Phil, Haley, not Sanjaya, which leaves room for one of the front-runners to get the traditional "shocking" bottom three scare... I'm going to roll the dice and say LaKisha but Melinda is not outside the realm of possibility. Going home: Haley. Extra credit prediction: This is the week my batting average drops below .500.

OH PLEASE, LET'S GET SANJAYA OFF THIS SHOW, EVERYONE, THIS IS A TALENT SHOW, NOT SOMETHING FOR THE "TEENY BOPPERS" TO BE VOTING ON. PLEASE SIMON, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, DO AS YOU ALWAYS DO, TELL THE TRUTH, AND SHOUT IT TO THE WORLD SANJAYA NEEDS TO GO!!

  • 2

I don't hink Sanjaya will go yet. The show has a history of keeping one pretty terrible person til almost the end. Remember the girl from Frlorida a couple years ago who screamed every song and ran all over the stage-she made it to the last three or four.

But Sanjaya has to go - it is about a singing competition as Simon keeps on saying.

    Hayley will this week

This season overall has had the weakest lineup other than a couple of people. I believe after the winner this year no one will remember the others in the show. People still remember non-winners such as Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, and others. This year in my opinion only two people have the talent that I would go out and spend my money to listen to. I beleive Someone from American Idol should select the song for the person each week because they pretty much suck chossing their own.

I don't understand why everyone is so hiped up about Sanjaya. Just because he sang one song, that sounded half way decent. He still can't sing and,or hold a tune. He just looks so creepy the way he looks into the camera. I'm not trying to be a B. but, he really does'nt have talent. I wish people would get some true taste. Come on people of AMERICA,let's come back down to earth!!!!

    I like Sanjaya. He's a nappy-headed ho.

    SteveM,

While the contestants get to pick their song, they don't have total control. Remember that each week has a theme. It might be 60's, disco, country, etc. Supposedly this is to test their ability to adapt to any style thrown at them which isn't the case for professionals. They would actually do better if they could play to their strong suit instead of having to adhere to program rules. Imagine George Strait having to sing a Bon Jovi song or Guns & Roses having to do a Celine Dion song. They made it big doing their style of music, not someone else's.

Everytime the judges criticize a singer for song selection, I've always wondered why they don't respond by telling them that they didn't really give them much choice in the matter. But they never do.

I have enjoyed american idol for four seasons - this season has the biggest lack of talent yet-put please let vote for what talet ther is not for the lack of it

  • 8

Because of the Sanjaya fiasco, I am no longer watching American Idol. It's become a farce and not a fair competition.

  • 9

Jambalaya, crowfish pie, feilae gumbo...is he the American Idol hero? Lets face it, there was no one to compare to JLo. Melinda is still the best vocal. I'm rather taken back by Lakesha's dressing - did she look in the mirror before she went on stage? Let them sing something by their choice and lets find really see the "show and tell".

  • 10

Sanjaya is a joke. Why he is still on there and knows people are making a fool of him is beyond me. When he comes on...I watch something else until I know he's finished. I've never felt this way about American Idol before. I feel sorry for Randy, Paula and Simon having to 'deal' with it. They've run out of 'ugly' things to say and the truth of the matter is, the ugly things are true. Sanjaya needs to leave on his own while he still has a little dignity left.

His hair....please......and that facial hair..did he paste it on.

I have stopped watching american idol after being a devoted fan since the beginning. I was shocked and upset last year when Daughtry was cast off but I figured no one voted for him because they thought he would just automatically win. So I gave this year another try. But after Gina was voted off, I had had enough. I actually thought she would make it to the top 3. But when people like Phil, Haley and Sanjaya beat her out, it just makes me cringe. I felt bad for Sanjaya in the beginning because his lack of experience was obvious and the judges were too hard on him. But he doesnt belong in the top 10. I dont know who is behind his crazy song choices or antics but its just ridiculous. I only hope he is just having fun riding the wave of his short lived fame beacause I really hope he doesn't believe he is just that good. They had to stage a crying preteen in the audience to get america to vote for him. Please people wake up, he's not good!!! To be totally honest he's a little creepy! American Idol is a joke. It needs to go

I don't know why everybody is talking about this little kid. We should all be happy for him at his age doing great on the most famous TV show in America. I like Sanjaya and I will continue to vote for him. Keep it up S A N J A Y A.

  • 13

James Poniewozik's review of Sanjaya this week is nonsensical and idiotic. Notoriety is not the equivalence of stardom. Sanjaya is the public's clown at the moment, but when people no longer find him amusing, he will be swiftly voted off and at that time not even all the call centers in India can save him. As an Indian-American myself, I find Sanjaya to be a disgrace to our people as he has become synonymous with "lack of talent".

  • 14

Huuummmmm?!?!?!? Sanjaya -- "a little creepy","dont know who is behind his crazy song choices or antics but its just ridiculous","is he the American Idol hero?" -- sounds a little like the next Michael Jackson... and, how creepy can that be?

Girls not yet in their teens crying over him -- anyone remember the Beatles?

All Sanjaya has is a bunch of little girls with cell phones texting in his number! HE HAS NO TALENT, gang!!!!!

It's a real shame to see talented people get voted off, even when it's down to the last 3 or 2. But for this little punk to take a true talents space on this show.... Well, if something doesn't change SOON, American Idol will be dubed the laughing stock of the world, not just the biggest disappointment on TV.

TOO BAD WE CAN'T VOTE OFF THE WORST TALENT, rather than voting for our fav.

    Tough crowd!

Way off base with the claims that the season is the worst - that would be last season. There are easily 4 strong singers plus 2 that are fun to watch (3 is you count Haley).

Latin music is clearly not the strong suit for this crowd, especially for the women.

Leave Sanjaya alone. He clearly makes the show so much more entertaining.

  • 16

Sanjaya truly has no talent but... he is doing a great job of surviving on American Idol! That IS the point isn't it? Do what it takes to get to the next week and not be voted off. If Haley had Melinda's voice would she dress in mirco-short pants? If Phil could sing would he shave his head and wear funny hats? Well, maybe. But Sanjaya knows how to build a fan base! (True teenybopper fans + the people who want to destroy the show) You are right last year he would have been long gone by now. But this is not last year! No. Taylor or Kat or Kelli or Daughtery...just luke-warm boring people in season six to show off how interesting Sanjaya is compared to them! See you next week Sanjaya!

  • 17

SANJAYA SANJAYA SANJAYA. AMERICA LOOK AT THIS GUY....HE'S HAVING FUN AND GIVING US A REASON TO WATCH A DREARY LINEUP THIS YEAR. HE GETS OUR VOTE ALL THE WAY..... AND NO WE ARE NOT PRE TEEN CRYIN CUTIES. MARK THESE WORDS, ITS NOT EASY TO GET OUR NEW AGE TEENIES TO CRY BUT THIS GUY DID IT SO COOL. WAKE UP WORLD....BOSTON DUDES ROCK WITH SANJAYA.

  • 18

Gorein2008 - "Taylor or Kat or Kelli or Daughtery...just luke-warm boring people in season six to show off how interesting Sanjaya is compared to them!"

    Just luke-warm boring people?!?!?!?!

I guess that's why Taylor, Kat, Kelli & Daughtery are selling so many CDs and packing the house at all their concerts. At leaset their fas can drive themselves to the concerts. What's going to happen to Sanjya? Most of his fans CAN'T DRIVE and their allowances won't support buying tickets or CDs. He's a poor example of TALENT - he can't sing, he can't keep a slid note more than 2 seconds, and he's scary when he stares into the camera like that... How old are YOU?

  • 19

    TO JOSH -

I bet "BOSTON DUDES" like you WOULD love to "ROCK WITH SANJAYA". When he looks in the camera like that is he wooing the females or the males? He does nothing for me, DUDE!

Lay off the Indian kid. He has done nothing wrong. It is not his fault that people are voting for him for whatever reason. He has been incredibly tough, taking the criticism on his chin week after week along with this public vilification. As for Indian call centres voting for him, it is pure rubbish. They don't have a clue who he is in India. American television is off their radar by light years. They have plenty of entertainment of their own.As for him robbing the the so called talented contestants of their rightful place, come on. There is hardly any talent there in general bar one or two. If he has no talent he will not survive in the music industry anyway. So just wait and watch. And mind you, whoever is voting for him has full democratic right to do so. It is a free country remember?

  • 21

Sanjaya has absolutely NO TALENT! C'MON AMERICA, don't tease us any longer. I thought American Idol is about talent, and not a popularity contest! Everytime he comes on stage, I switch channels...i simply can't stand his looks and worst still...listening to his "singing"??? If thats what you call talent in singing...then next time I should let my dog and monkey join.
please, no sympathy votes for sanjaya! he SHOULD be OUT SOON!

  • 22

We stopped watching.....idiots voting...probably the same crowd that wanted Imus fired...At least Imus has talent.

  • 23

Sanjaya is one of the worst singer I have ever heard. I am still wondering how he made it through the auditions. I wish someway or somehow you can tie or block his line to keep his votes from registering. Sanjaya you should eliminate yourself from American Idol. You are only making a fool out of your no singing, can't carry a tune self !!!!

  • 24

IDOL must begin limiting the votes. If the producers expect the american public to stay tuned there must be some fairness built into the process. All the other variety type shows are doing it, and given the fact that there are a few nuts encouraging an entourage of buffoons to vote for the worst singer, the public will understand!

  • 25

I feel the same as alot of others. Sanjaya does not have talent. To keep him on the show for other reasons tells me that this country doesn't have it's head where it belongs. This is a talent competition, not a let's see how sorry for the kid we can feel competition. Jordin is young and holding her own and nobody is making fun of her. I think as American Idol decreases in talent, the more popular it becomes. Whatever happened to entertainment?
