Jericho: The Nuts May Have Won This One!
TV Week is reporting what would be a stunning turnaround if it pans out: Jericho may be un-cancelled after all. Fans of the show, infuriated by the postapocalyptic serial's cancellation in mid-cliffhanger, have bombarded CBS with complaints, as well as box after box of peanuts, in order to persuade the broadcaster to bring their show back to life.
The eccentric fan campaign to revive a doomed show is a time-honored ritual of spring, but rarely a successful one. (In 2001 fans of Roswell flooded The WB with bottles of Tabasco sauce to save the show. The WB cancelled it, but UPN picked it up for another season.)
If the fan blitz works this time--at a successful big-three network yet--I'm not sure if it's a statement about the importance of intense fan bases in a fragmented marketplace, or just testament to the superiority of nuts as a foodstuff. But while I've had my own love-hate relationship with Jericho (I still need to download the finale from iTunes), I'm rooting for the Jericho fans--not just so I can find out what happened to the nuked U.S. and its multiple presidents, but in hopes of saving the next in-danger show. Friday Night Lights fans, start hoarding novelty mini footballs now.

Ahhh, but were there really multiple Presidents? As I recall, the fake soldiers that marched into town to mooch loot were the source of that info. They told a number of lies before getting caught. I could be wrong since I had a love/hate rlationship with the show as well and my viewing was spotty at best. I still have the finale on the DVR and have yet to watch it.
Maybe we can start sending in little refrigerator magnet calendars to save Andy Barker, PI.

@Keith: The multiple presidents info may well be outdated. I think I'm short one episode besides the finale. Like I said, love-hate.
However, I believe we got independent confirmation of the six-presidents scenario at the big swap meet with the giant newsboard. (In fact, didn't the fake soldiers say that one of the presidents--the one in Columbus, maybe--had "won" and consolidated power?) Correct me if I'm wrong, Jerichites.

You are correct on your last assumption about the Columbus President. That is where Hawkins bomb was supposed to go off, thus eliminating that Presidential candidate, thus another marker of an inside job.

NUTastic!!! Congratulations Rangers of Jericho!!! All we need now is a Press Release from Nina and the nuts will stop. Until then...
SEND CBS MORE NUTS!!!
-
5
AS one one the "nuts".....
from your lips to God's ear!
-
6
No fans will ever be able to match the intensity and determination of the Jericho fans. Not possible. Go Team Jericho!

This is preposterous! CBS should not be giving in to what the 'fans' want. TV is about making money. If Jericho fans love this show so much, they should be charged to watch it. I think CBS should keep this show cancelled. What message does CBS show if they can be bullied into bringing back shows that had poor ratings? Money makes TV good, not viewers and fans.

Thanks for giving Jericho and the cause a word in your blog. I too am waiting for the official word from CBS. Hopefully all the news is true !!
Now comes phase2, keeping up the fight for more than 7 or 8 episodes. We as fans have to keep up our end of the bargin if CBS is willing to give it another shot. The Rangers should be proud, each and everyone who posted, sent an e-mail, sent snail mail, made a phone call, sent a fax or sent nuts. The fans have spoken, we want Jericho back. -

What would I need to send CW to save Veronica Mars, I wonder? Because trust me, I'd do it.

@Chaddogg: Amen, brother, amen.

I hope this is true!

CBS has uncancelled shows before. They did it with Cagney and Lacey in the 80's. I was thrilled then, and I'm thrilled now.
-
14
Yup.. It's working! Good job to everyone..
Now we have to prepare to get a full season..

CBS is making the right decision and all will be forgiven.
Jericho Forever.

CBS will have everyone's full support once they uncancel Jericho & start considering all the viewers who don't just watch the show on TV.
-
18
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We've yet to hear any direct statement from CBS as of yet. I am definitely optimistic though.
ALL HAIL THE POWER OF PEACEFUL ORGANIZED PROTEST!!

As a veteran of the campaign to save The Sentinel from the nefarious clutches of UPN, I'm very very glad to hear about this. Fan campaigns may sound dorky, but they do work sometimes, so it's not wasted energy. And it worked here! Yay Jericho fans!
Now, in solidarity, I suppose I should actually watch an episode...
