The Morning After: Fear Rode the Tricycle

Your open invitation to weigh in on last night's Chuck, Journeyman, Boondocks, or what have you.

Or How I Met Your Mother, which, while I'm not sure I have a full-fledged Watch in me, was back in top form even though the episode did nothing to advance the whole meeting-your-mother business. But as an episode of How I Met Those Two Sorority Sisters I'll Tell You About Some Day When You're Older, I'll take it. Bonus points for indulging a generation of young men's Winnie Cooper fantasies with the Danica McKellar casting. And for pairing her with Busy Phillips, who I believe has now guested on every show on television. They don't call her Busy for nothing!

"So, beers, you want to stay here? I know this other place called my belly."

Oh, what a great episode last night. Finally no guest stars, everything happened in the apartment or bar, and the comedy and one-liners was right on point.

I loved that Barney actually bought a belt for the competition. I loved all the British video game banter. It was great to see Danica McKeller back from season 1 too.

I was initially a bit peeved that they left the ending to chance. Then I remembered I was watching a network show and that the story was theoretically being told to Ted's kids and I wasn't watching Entourage. I thought the idea of being afraid to ride the tricycle was a sensitive-male take on an inherently misogynistic activity.

A solid "Chuck" episode last night -- perhaps the best outing yet, and that includes the pilot. Seems wise to let each character stake out some ground, whether it was Captain Awesome's tango lesson, Morgan's lockdown or the occasional flying microwave. Team Bartkowski scored quickly and often last night.

I agree that Chuck was the best yet - I finally got a sense of the groove that the show is settling into, and I like it! The characters are starting to become more multi-dimensional, Morgan is way less irritating (I can finally see why Chuck is friends with him). Love Captain Awesome. Love the building chemistry between Chuck and Sarah. Loved the late-nite antics at the Buy More, the tango, and always Adam Baldwin. And I really like the relationship between Chuck and his sister - sweet and sincere and accepting and caring. I am starting to really enjoy this show :)

What a waste! HIMYM had Danica McKellar and Busy Phillips. Danica McKellar and Busy Phillips! Together! And all the storyline required them to do was giggle. If you've got those two, you'd better use them. A waste, I say!

I actually found Morgan more irritating, if that is possible. He's not funny, like Sam's friend in Reaper; he looks like a Wookie and how many times can we see Mr. Baldwin push his face to the floor? If we are willing to suspend our disbelief that a Stanford man, even a disgraced one, works at an electronic store, how can we buy that he has a best friend who didn't seem to graduate from high school? Childhood friends would have a better rapport than those two have.

If there ever is a Three Stooges movie made, and Russell Crowe is not available, Adam Baldwin would make a nice Moe.
