The Morning After: The Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch

Every once in a while as a critic, you have an "Is it me or is it them?" review--one on which you part company with pretty much every peer in the world. Most of the ones I've had in the past (the American version of The Office [pro], Studio 60, Fat Actress annd Bette [con]), I've stood by. But maybe you'll disagree with me about last night's season premiere of Nip/Tuck, as did pretty much every TV critic in the country (with the possible exception of Alan Sepinwall). Maybe you disagree with me too, and this is your place to do it. Disagree away!

Also, I was remiss yesterday in not plugging last night's airing of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, though the various Charlie Brown specials are probably collectively as big a reason as any that I became a TV critic. We will all be judged on our sincerity.

James, let me be a dissenter to your lukewarm review of the first ep of Nip/Tuck. I loved it. And I actually thought the "Hearts and Scalpels" stuff worked.

It was just a solid season premier, re-introducing us to the characters while laying the foundation for some interesting possibilities plot-wise for the coming season. My only gripe: No Kimber :)

I think the idea of Christian taking a backseat to Sean is a nice twist on their usual relationship. Throw in some Oliver Platt & Jennifer Coolidge, and I thought it was great.

Didn't watch Nip-Tuck, never seen it. I really liked Reaper, though, I have the same feeling for Reaper that I have for Chuck - they have each had a few weeks to settle into a groove and start doing their own thing, and both of them seem to be headed in that direction - deviations from the formulas of the first few episodes, building an ongoing storyline, etc.

I thought House was especially good last night, and, from my TiVo, Chuck was also especially good, so good that I looked up the writer in IMDB (Paul Klemmer - wrote for Veronica Mars).

Right on, Geoff, about House. Best epispde yet this season.
