The Morning After: Deal or Deal or Deal or No Deal

Deal or No Deal was Two. Freaking. Hours. long last night, as the show padded itself out with a twist involving three players at once. Welcome to the writers' strike, folks--it just gets better from here! (Though Mrs. Tuned In--who belongs to the Bella Voce Singers, due to rock Saint Saviour's in Park Slope this Sunday Saturday!--is seriously looking forward to Clash of the Choirs next week.)

How do Deal or No Deal purists feel about this twist? (And there's more: coming up this week, a musical twist, and a "Deal Wheel.") Isn't it a needless complication of a game of simple elegance, like 3-D chess?

didn't watch last night, but I loved the "twist" they added for the first couple of shows this season -- adding an additional $1,000,000 prize to the board each time a contestant failed to win $1 million until someone finally got it...

Sadly.. I think I'll be a closet "Clash of the Choirs" fan too...

It made for an interesting episode, although I wouldn't want to see this as a regular feature. All three contestants played the game out to the end which was neat, and I liked the continuous "speed round" format without too much of the drawn-out manufactured drama. If the game could move that quickly all the time, it would be a good thing.

"Tonight, Hollywood's latest attack on Christmas:

Journeyman's Christmas episode was a heartwarming tale... of blackmailing your boss to keep your job and having your own mother tell your wife she doesn't need you.

    Fox News reports tonight!"

All kidding aside, another nicely different episode. Out of all the fall casualties, I will be saddest to see Journeyman go (Reaper just never went anywhere).

So, really, is Journeyman going to go? Because then I'm officially sad. Sure, it might just be me and my random co-worker who watch it in the entire state of Wisconsin, but I was hoping that there were others. I really was. Maybe a few people in Georgia also thought it was amazing? I didn't want to give up on that show. See, that's the reason I hate watching shows during their first season, because this always happens. Remember Studio 60...

If every state has it's token Journeyman fan or two I must be Arizona's. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned more often in comments for this blog, and feared I was the only one who was enjoying it. I haven't seen the latest episode, but the one where he gets shot at the very beginning... It sure was a breath of fresh air to have someone enter the scene and blast away without unnecessary build-up or monologuing.

I'm a complete Journeyman junkie! I watched every episode, and am itching for more.

If it doesn't come back, this West Virginian will be sad.
