Lost Is Back! 30 Seconds of It!
Via ComingSoon.net, behold the theatrical trailer for season 4 of Lost. The trailer-makers know what Lost fans like: lots of flashing split-second images to slo-mo, frame-grab and geek out over. Speaking of which: Is that who I think it is in that very last screen flash? You may now commence freaking out!
-
1
Wait...was that CHARLIE?
-
2
Consider me freaking out.
-

There's a slowed-down version on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMzi1QJwe8A
I couldn't make that much out.
-
4
THAT. IS. CHARLIE. Whipping off sunglasses, with darker hair, to talk to Hurley? Wow...I mean....wow.
Other interesting points (watch the slowed down version):
- Weird animal skull with BIG teeth/tusks.
- Random cow?
- Blood dripping onto someone's arm.
- New Dharma symbol/headband.
- Someone (Sawyer?) tackling Ben/.
- What looks like a helicopter rescue in a storm over the water.
- Hurley underwater
- Hurley running through the woods at night?
- Hurley at Jacob's house??? Seeing Jacob???
- Someone in "space suit" right after "Rescue Arrives", taking off a helmet to reveal a bearded face...
- Search lights from above Jack and Kate in a storm by the plane?
- Jack ready to shoot a gun.
- An electronic box with three buttons going vertically down.
- Locke kneeling down next to a blonde woman who looks like she's unconscious/dead/asleep, and it's NOT Juliet (she looks vaguely like Bryce Dallas Howard)
- Sawyer holding Ben against a tree, looking like he's about to shoot Ben, with someone sitting on the ground in the background with Locke questioning her?
- A mound of fruit exploding?
- A knife in the back of someone with a bandana (Naomi?) with Ben (?) in the background.
- The number 6 (what? this is probably the weirdest part, in some ways)CHARLIE!!!
(Seriously, maybe my "evil Charlie" theory still has legs?)

I was wondering how long until we saw a frame-by-frame break down.
Honestly, I'd do it if I had the time.
I'm super-geek excited. I almost started lecturing my new co-workers trying to convert them to the Church of Lost.
My season 3 DVD arrives next week!

Oh man, I posted right before Chaddogg's big post. Nice work my friend! The commenters on YouTube think the #6 stands for the people who survive. It's probably actually a base numeral in some ancient Roman equation that predicts the crop of apples in years ending in prime numbers that will factor into the show.
Oh man, my Lost-fu is rusty, I'll have to hit up the Lostepedia to refresh. This came out at the perfect time!

WTH?!?
Why does Charlie get to come back from the dead and not everybody else? What kind of hobbit weed did he give the writers?
As for helmet man, I'm guessing may be Desmond?
-
8
@C. Brown - I don't think helmet man is Desmond - looks too scruffy. Of course, it's OBVIOUSLY tough to figure it out given the quick cuts. Whatever those "space suits" are, though, they are intense and look pretty "military/aggressive" in their purpose. An extermination team, perhaps?
I really am curious about the number 6...it looks straight out of Lost promos (as in "6" episodes left this season!)..why include that? (Oh wait, I know...so that we WONDER about it.)
But the obvious bombshell is Charlie....Wow. It could be a delusion (Hurley has "seen" people who weren't there before, and the island has a way of making dead people "appear"), a flashback, or just maybe a hint that Charlie isn't really dead (which would absolutely BLOW my mind).

@James - by the way, this is not ALL of the new Lost that is back. On ABC.com, they have Lost "mobisodes"...short vignettes of never-before aired scenes that fill in parts of the back-story and shed new light on the show. They've done 6, I think so far, and have 6 left....new mobisodes are posted every Monday. So everyone, check them out!

@chaddogg--
Yeah, I posted about those a few weeks ago, after the first one. Haven't seen much worth actually analyzing in them since--tho it was cool seeing Michael in a scene with Juliet--but I'm probably one or two behind by now.

11
Oh, one more thing--the "new" Dharma symbol: Isn't that the Hydra?
-
12
Oh Charlie. So badass. He looks like the Terminator hobbit style in that clip.
-
13
Like I said, I couldn't make out that much.

My recap of the (slowed down) trailer:
Action-man Hurley! Collect the whole set: running Hurley, swimming Hurley, and finding Jacob's shack Hurley!
Why are just the show leads walking from the radio tower (their clothes, like Claire's, are still in their clean state from the season finale)? Are they meeting the boat crew elsewhere on the island? It looks like they alone are the ones that get caught in the rainstorm and helicopter search lights - do the background Losties head to Other-land (probably The Temple)?
That isn't a new Dharma symbol, its the Hydra symbol - i.e. the zoo station the Others used as a base of operation in the beginning of season 3. Of course, the question is why anyone would be holding Hydra wreckage (given that it's not known to be blown up) - who blows it up, and where are they finding the wreckage?
Locke's passed out new friend is a new character - I haven't been paying attention to casting notes to know who she is.
That is not a helicopter rescue - that is someone (either Desmond or Sawyer, from their shirt color) threatening to toss a crewmember off the chopper while they are flying over open water.
Seeing a cow is not weird. Trying to figure out whose head that is is. Honestly - given slightly curly short length hair that is bleached blond, the only candidate I can think of is Charlie.
Which makes head on dark haired Charlie even more mysterious. I want to say that this is a psychotic break of Hurley's, as Charlie having an evil executive twin is beyond even Lost's ability to pull off.
And yes, the 6 is a weird element. It is too clean to be anything other than a post-production item (i.e. is not shot footage), so why is it in there? Editor's error? Or is there another orientation film?
And yes, the Hanso assault forces look every bit as mean as I imagined they would be. The hooded man at the beginning is not Jacob though - probably whomever is in charge of the assault forces boat(Minkowski was it?)

The dead hippy is actually Takezo Kensei killed by Jack with a sword, and the guy that everyone is calling Charlie is actually Syler, since everyone knows that Hurley ate Charlie.
The skull? Locke was actually a monkey and died in the pit.
-
16
Maybe Charlie took on Mikhail's never-dying ability?
-
17
I really shouldn't have watched that. Oh, well. Awesome.
If it is Charlie, hope it's in a capacity like Boone from "Further Instructions," and not a way for the writers to work the actor back in the show for sentimental reasons.

Watched the slowed down video on youtube. If you just keep it on pause you can sort of go frame by frame.
I was able to pause it on Charlie right as he was taking off his shades. Seemed like the normal Charlie to me - the hair was just a little shorter which is why it appears darker. He appears to be facing, lets just say, a rather large individual with long, dark, curly hair. Has to be Hurley. Charlie's also wearing a leather jacket. To me it points straight to Charlie and Hurley meeting in a flashback.
In all of the post-season 3 interviews the little hobbit has emphatically stated that his dead. As in dead, dead.

Internet scuttlebutt is now saying that the "6" is indeed post-production. It is apparently from an in-universe flash-forward era tv show about the Oceanic 6 who make it back to civilization.
Follow up questions:
Would people like the Rousseaus, Desmond, and the Others cound towards the 6?
Would wanted people like Kate and Sawyer out themselves as part of the 6 or just go back into hiding? As far as who they are, I have been assuming Hurley gets back (how else would Jack get his funding to go back to the Island), but it is possible Paik (sun's father) breaks ranks with Hanso and sends Jack in to get his daughter out.
