The Morning After: Raisin D'Etre

Audra McDonald, Rashad and Sanaa Lathan. / ABC

I forgot to link earlier to my brief review of ABC's A Raisin in the Sun, so i figured I'd open up this thread to any comments on it. I think P. Diddy (sorry, Sean Combs) has gotten a lot of credit for being better than you'd expect him to be, but it's really the women around him, especially Phylicia Rashad, who ran away with this adaptation. If I had a nitpick about the movie, it's that this is an easy play to make melodramatic, and occasionally it tripped in that direction. But it was hard to fault any of the performances, especially Rashad as a matriarch trying to keep her family's moral bearings in a world she doesn't completely recognize anymore. Any thoughts? Do you prefer your Diddy on Making the Band?
