Corporate Press Release Theater: MTM to Turn the Lipstick Jungle on With Her Smile
Ever wonder what it would have been like if Mary Richards had had a daughter, then returned years later to tell her cautionary tales about trying to raise kids while wrangling Ted Baxter? Well, wonder no more! Mary Tyler Moore is returning to TV, with a recurring role on... Lipstick Jungle.
TELEVISION ICON AND SEVEN-TIME EMMY WINNER MARY TYLER MOORE GUEST-STARS IN MULTI-EPISODE ARC ON NBC'S ‘LIPSTICK JUNGLE'
Moore Will Make Her Debut on Season Premiere (September 24) in Role of Wendy Healy's (Brooke Shields) Mother -- a Retired, High-powered Business Executive.
BURBANK – June 18, 2008 – Television icon and seven-time Emmy Award winner Mary Tyler Moore will guest-star on NBC's drama "Lipstick Jungle" (Wednesdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) in a multi-episode arc starting in the season premiere on Wednesday, September 24.
Moore will play Joyce, a retired high-powered exec who forces Wendy (Brooke Shields), her studio-head daughter, to re-evaluate the work vs. family dilemma. Having blazed a trail for working women back in the 1970s and 1980s, Joyce challenges Wendy's idealistic notion of "having it all" -- leaving her overachieving daughter in a tailspin.
A little surprising, maybe, but then again, the part of Liz Lemon's mom was already taken.
