What Should Obama's FCC Do?
It's a bit of a slow day at Tuned In, as I start to work through my pile of January screeners and, yes, begin to get Robo-James oiled up and ready for the holidays. In the meantime, I point you to this MSNBC piece wondering what direction the Federal Communications Commission will take under President Obama. Will it be more hands-off, or start placing its hands on different things? (For one: despite the attempts of conservative talk radio to make the restoration of the "Fairness Doctrine" their bogeyman du jour, Obama stated during the campaign that he opposes it.) And what, if anything, would you like it to do?

Inch toward more European standards, lightening up on sex restrictions and possibly being a tad more stringent with violence. I could also do with less fines for inadvertent, hate-less cursing.
Honestly, though, it seems like the FCC is better the less it does in terms of censorship. I'm not aware of the dynamics involving the industry, though, so... I'll leave that to someone else?

I would like the FCC to restore the Fairness Doctrine. Not because I feel strongly about the issue, but simply because I worry about the Limbaughs of the world when they don't have anything at which to foam.
