Tales from the Swag Heap

Among the reasons blogging has been light lately, other than the usual work stuff, is that we in the TIME New York office are preparing to move, from the 22nd to the 23rd floor. Which means packing up every single thing in my office—by my count, for something like the third time in three years. Next time, I'm taking nothing to my new office but a go bag, ready to vacate on a moment's notice.

But I can at least share with you some of the mementoes and detritus I've unearthed while packing. Here, first, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force figures who keep watch over my desk:

That Powerpuff Girls cereal box to the left? Going on 10 years old. And God help me, it still has cereal in it. [Update: Yes, that's a bottle of ouzo to the right, which I faintly remember may have been from some sort of My Big Fat Greek Wedding promo. Why I have not yet cracked it open, I do not know.]

One SpongeBob alarm clock, never yet used.

A few shelves from my DVD archive. How many titles can you spot?

Have you been singing the Jeffersons theme just to annoy your colleagues? Justin Fox sounds like he could have some pretty good vocal cords, get a little harmony going between offices.

I can image waking up to a SpongeBob laugh alarm clock, at least that's what I'd hope it sounds like...well before I threw it out the window.

How many colleagues find ridiculous reasons to stop by your office just so they can play with the toys? I would if anyone I worked with had all that stuff.

It's amazing what we can collect in a little bit of time! I love the "crew" watching over your desk.
