Lou Dobbs Gets Off of CNN's Lawn
In an odd moment in a career that has not exactly lacked for said moments, crotchety CNN host Lou Dobbs abruptly announced on-air today that he is leaving the network where he has worked most of three decades (and hence, most of its existence). Leaving as in today. From his statement:
Over the past six months, it's become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us. And some leaders in media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond my role here at CNN and to engage in constructive problem-solving, as well as to contribute positively to a better understanding of the great issues of our day. And to continue to do so in the most honest and direct language possible.
Not a few critics have said, in not as complimentary terms, that Dobbs could in fact better contribute to positive understanding of issues—by no longer hosting a CNN show. But what did Dobbs mean by it?
Dobbs gave little direct hint of his plans, except that he was considering "options," and, indirectly, that it would somehow relate to the same advocacy that often made him an uncomfortable fit with CNN.
He's caught heat for his fiery segments on "broken borders" and immigration and recently, for endorsing, or at least showing sympathy for, far-out theories that President Obama was not legally born in the United States and thus is not constitutionally eligible to be President. Press reports suggested that he had been talking to Fox News chief Roger Ailes, perhaps for a role on the Fox Business Network, though Dobbs announced no new job plans. And that "six months" time reference in his remarks suggests he sees a zeitgeisty moment in the tea-party era for his brand of cranky-old-man populism.
So maybe he has media/political/demagoguery plans in the works. On the other hand, he's left the network before, for other, er, colorful reasons, founding the website space.com in 1999 before returning to CNN in 2001.
In any case, CNN abruptly loses a well-known host, but also immediately sheds a frequent PR problem; Dobbs said he met with CNN head Jon Klein, who agreed to release him from his contract early.
To what end, we'll have to see. Politics? Another cable show? A swashbuckling crusade around the world in search of Obama's real birth certificate? For the sake of the airport immigration inspectors that he'll spent his free time haranguing if he doesn't find new work soon, someone make the man an offer!

Good Riddance to Lou Dobbs.....He should be fired a long time ago. We can't call him a journalist since he's reports or programs were always bias.....No fairness at all.....but CNN needs him toboost their ratings, that's why he was never fired. CNN shame on you.

Why is it that Mr. Dobbs hate the mexicans that crosses the border while his children have Mexican blood running in their veins? Instead of hating them, help their plight of poverty in their country. I assure you that the Mexican people will love you for that.

I'm taking all of my winnings from Hannity's pushback tomorrow, and doubling down on Old Man Dobbs. He will definitely make his way onto Fox News, where Murdoch will have a 'Bloviation Celebration' block of opinion journalism to complement the 'Animation Domination' bloc on Fox Sundays.
I've seriously got to find a way to monetize the predictability of the right-wing crowd. -

You got competition for the Oval Office in 3 years, Big Time.
The ticket opposing you in 2012 is as follows:
Lou Dobbs on top of Ticket, Rush Limbaugh Bottom, or viceversa-- pending further negotiations with the RNC.
Lou Dobbs is NOT leaving for FOX. Let's not be fools. Not with this astute gentleman, so inclined to do "rigorous, empirical thought and forthright analysis and discussion," as he put it in his last broadcast.

To step down from "Lou Dobbs Tonight", Jon Klein, CEO at CNN, only advised him to pursue his political aspirations (HE HAD BECOME A LIABILITY TO CNN), since he had already ran its full course eviscerating the noble profession of Journalism and turning it into a carnival of lies and false accusations, picking on the easiest of the targets:
Latinos, Latinos Immigrants, and IMMIGRANTS, period.
A nation of immigrants observed for the better part of the last 6 years how he managed to slaughter immigrants and immigrants dreams by liking them to the very demon.
He was himself the Demon personified.
Make us believe that Angels are indeed Demons?
Make us believe that the very force that transforms America every 100 years is going to tear the country apart?
Thanks God he is gone from the TV screen, step down from his Bully Pulpit to pursue his old political aspirations (yes, we saw that American Flag in the Background in his last spewing of blatant lies).
SHAME ON CNN, turned again by J. KLEIN, his adroit CEO, into the CHICKEN NEWS NETWORK.
Poor Ted, being humiliated again. Never stops, Turner. You blew it...

Mr President Dobbs (if Obama is indeed a sissy who doesn't know how to beat 2 Radio Show Men):
In case you you get elected, these are my recommendation:
1-Close the border with Mexico altogether.
2-Build the Real Chinese/Mongolian-American Wall against those barbarians.
3-3-Once you stifle the life out of America, by stopping the Good Mexican Workers at the gate, you can import the Chinese Labor to populate this fertile land.
4-Since America will be so indebted to the Chinese, not only because of the loans, grown so big we may default, but now because of the labor which replace that of the Mexicans, you won't need the US Army to defend us from Emperor Mao Se Tung troops.
5-Sign a peace treaty with the Chinese Government by the end of your second term in the White House, surrendering San Francisco to the Chinese General who made it first, after crossing the pacific with his squadron of 100 Aircraft Carriers, now docked in the Bay Area.
6-You won't need to fight for a middle class anymore at this point: It won't exist. Only very Poor and Very Rich.
