You Are the Emmys Week: Best Actress, Drama

As you read this post, I am currently secluded in the tony vacation getaway known as southeastern Michigan. While I’m out, I’ve directed Robo-James to serve up a series of daily posts asking you whom you’d nominate for this year’s Emmys—whose nominees are announced next week—and sharing some of my own picks.

For my personal picks, I’ve mainly (but not exclusively) stuck to those actors and actresses nominated by their own shows, and mainly (but not exclusively) assigned them to the categories they were submitted in, be it lead or supporting. I also stuck to six per category, so (in most categories anyway) I left out a lot of deserving shows or performances. You don’t have to follow any of these guidelines in your own picks. I will not be grading your work. (The Emmy calendar, remember, runs roughly from June through May.)

After the jump, I’ll show you my picks for drama actresses (lead and supporting), in no particular order, then you show me yours:

Lead: Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy), Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights), Melissa Leo (Treme), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), January Jones (Mad Men)

Supporting: Khandi Alexander (Treme), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Ginnifer Goodwin (who made the best of a weak season on Big Love), Grace Zabriskie (ditto) Ally Walker (Sons of Anarchy), Aimee Teegarden (Friday Night Lights)
